A PLAYGROUND FOR THE ADVENTUROUS OUTDOOR, FOOD, WINE & SLOW TRAVEL ENTHUSIAST . 90 MINUTES FROM CAPE TOWN.

DAY 1 - CLARENCE DRIVE. KOGELBERG NATURE RESERVE. BOSMAN FAMILY VINEYARDS.

  • Depart Cape Town midmorning and head north along the N2 toward Clarence Drive. a magnificent scenic coastal drive between the windswept hamlet of Rooi-Els and the naval town of Gordons Bay, which nestles in the north-eastern crook of False Bay in the shadow of the Hottentots Hollands mountains. This beautiful, coastal drive stretches between the two towns over 21 km, hugging the wild turquoise Cape coastline all the way.

  • Trail Hike in the Kogelberg Nature Reserve. Known as the 'biodiversity hot-spot', this remarkable reserve boasts an awe-inspiring array of landscapes, from rugged mountains to crystal-clear rivers and lush forests. The diverse flora and fauna found within its boundaries are a testament to its conservation efforts, making it a paradise for hikers of all levels. We’ll explore a suitable trail for the group depending on weather conditions on the day, ideally the Palmiet Trail along the river would be first pick. View on All Trails here.

  • Our afternoon stop is at Bosman Family Vineyards in the Hemel-en-Aarde Wine Valley which translates directly into ‘Heaven & Earth’. Cooled by Atlantic breezes, carpeted in vineyards and folded in the arms of fynbos mountains, a peaceful place, situated in the part of the valley where vineyards grow amidst the fynbos and visitors are encouraged to engage with the wines, with nature and with each other. Delicious tapas-style treats complement the wine tasting and superb coffees are on offer at the Frame House.

  • Check into Stanford Valley Country Lodge. Situated in the Klein River valley, with sweeping mountain views from every vantage. A cluster of whitewashed cottages, an acclaimed country restaurant, art gallery, signature spa treatments, and swimming, biking and hiking through pristine mountain fynbos this location is a special place to call home for the next 2 nights. After we have some sundowners at the on site damm dinner will be at the on-site restaurant which is one of the best in the region. See the Menu here. DAY 2: FERNKLOOF NATURE RESERVE. FAT BIKES DUNE TOUR.

  • We’ll then head into the town of the Hermanus and up into the Fernkloof Nature Reserve for our morning hike. There is no other place on earth where so many different plant species can be seen growing in such close proximity.The Reserve lies across almost the entire northern side of the town with a 60 km network of trails. These provide the opportunity for people of all fitness levels to enjoy some exercise and fresh air. Our chose trail will provide 2-3 hours of hiking and extensive views over Walker Bay and the Overberg Mountains.

  • Heading back toward Stanford our afternoon activity sees us team up with the Fatbike King, Dave Caravias. With ocean views and sand dunes as far as the eye can see we set off from the top of the picturesque Walker Bay Nature Reserve on a 6km adveture through winding dune fields. Our guide, Dave, shreds these dunes on his fatbike every day and he’ll show us how to tame the sand on these fun machines. Fatbike tires are designed to carve through sand with minimal effort while providing the stability needed to stay upright and safe on high rise dunes. The tour is excellent for anyone that can ride a bike and loves nature. Whether you are a pro-rider or just a novice you will be fine. For the those no so confident there are easy routes around the Dunes and for the adrenaline lover come and experience the faces of the Dunes and learn how to ride down them with ease.

  • We’ll have sundowners on along the cliffpaths close to the beach at the end of the Fatbike Experience before heading back to Stanford Valley Guest Farm for dinner.

DAY 3: RETURN TO CAPE TOWN. WHALE WATCHING? ATV’S? THE MELTING POT

  • We’ll start our final day with an out and back trail at the PhilipsKop Nature Reserve situated only 10 minutes drive from Stanford Valley Guest Farm. 90 minute in total at it’s peak you’ll be able to enter a small cave with displays of Khoi-San Rockart from up to 3000 years ago (the original inhabitants of SA). breakfast will then be back at Stanford Valley Guest Farm.

  • You’ll then have the opportunity to choose between Whale Watching and an ATV Experience next.

    • Option 1: Whale Watching - Every year for 5-6 months the area of Walker Bay near the town of Hermanus attracts some of the world’s most spectacular mammals, the Southern Right & Humpback Whales. Migrating from Antarctica, they arrive in the waters of the bay with one intention; to mate and calve. We’ve created an experience that allows you to get closer to them than ever before. (NOT IN SEASON JAN - MAY)

    • Option 2: Fynbos ATV Experience - This ATV trail in the Hermanus region makes it's way through

      variois types of vegetation on a thrilling 90 minute experience. The trail is easy to moderate, you do not need any prior experience on a ATV. The trail starts with a curvy and flat drive but slowly as you get the hang it you'll of head up the mountains and past a picturesque dam with a seaview followed by the chance to ride these machines beach like sand. A much loved activity of previous remotes.

  • Our final stop is at The Melting Pot at Oak Valley Wines for lunch and a wine tasting. A flavour packed, global food experience, serving contemporary small plates made for sharing. Influenced by their travels abroad giving you a culinary trip around the world in one sitting. The menu is small and vibrant comprised of up to ten dishes that change every two weeks or so, with options for everyone.
